"Dead Souls Don't Sing" was released in 2024 and marked the start of a new collaboration.  

Back in 2021 at the Crime Fair in Horsens, Jussi Adler-Olsen asked the two seasoned authors Line Holm and Stine Bolther if they wanted to continue the iconic series. It came like a bolt from the blue for the two female authors. And it was also a big decision. They were working on their own very popular Maria Just series, and taking over such a well-known universe as Afdeling Q seemed a bit overwhelming. But fortunately, it was a yes.

It was going to be a while before “Dead Souls Don’t Sing” was published – Jussi had just finished the 10th and final novel from his own hand “7 m2 with Lock” and Line & Stine had to finish the Maria Just novel they were writing “Night Hunter”. And only then could all the work of getting to know the Department Q universe begin. Not just reading all the books, but getting the universe under your skin and getting ideas for the innovation Line & Stine wanted to introduce.

Jussi Adler-Olsen is closely involved in developing the plots and helps Line Holm and Stine Bolther achieve the “Department Q style”.  

The first novel with the new writing community was “Dead Souls Don’t Sing” and was published in 2024. The next one is coming very soon.
