Sculptures
Jussi's three stand-alones have inspired sculptors: Three thrillers became three sculptures
Did you know that Jussi has had his three stand-alone thrillers immortalized in three sculptures?
In the summer of 2014, Jussi Adler-Olsen and his wife Hanne visited sculptor Michael Kirkegaard near Barcelona. Here, Jussi became very enthusiastic about the sculptor's work, and this resulted in an exciting project:
“The idea of using the last sentence from each novel as the title and starting point for all three sculptures was born during Jussi and his wife’s visit to my workshop and home outside Barcelona,” explains Michael Kirkegaard. “Many years ago, I made a sculpture based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen, and in connection with that, I made a smaller sculpture for myself based on the last sentence in the story.” Jussi was very excited about the idea, so he commissioned three sculptures based on the last sentence in each of his own stand-alone thrillers.
“It was a long, warm and unusual summer buried in the world of these books, and many thoughts and choices made on my daily walks on the mountain roads,” says the artist. “Actually, the 1½ years of life lived with these novels were created by Jussi. Since the small sculpture based on the story by HC Andersen is now with Jussi and Hanne, and since it was he who started it all, I decided to use the basic dimensions of this sculpture’s base of 35 x 25 cm as one of the common dimensions of all three sculptures for Jussi.”
You can see the three sculptures here, and if you know the books, it's clear which ones belong where. And the three sentences are:
'She thanked the gods, so fervently and deeply.' – And she thanked the gods
'You know where I am.' – The Washington Decree
'It was the last rays of a lazy dance for the very last simulant of the alphabet house.' – The Alphabet House

New authors to continue the Department Q series
Next month comes volume number 11, 'Dead Souls Don't Sing', but this time it's not just Jussi Adler-Olsen's name that's on the cover.
Line Holm and Stine Bolther have been asked to continue Jussi Adler-Olsen's popular series. And it came as something of a surprise when they were asked if they would take on the honorable task.
